Key Responsibilities: - Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a 20-bed cardiac step-down unit, including med/surg telemetry and stroke overflow cases - Manage complex cardiology patients requiring procedures such as thoracentesis, tracheostomy care, pacemaker monitoring, and post-cardiac catheterization care (radial artery only) - Employ telemetry monitoring skills to ensure timely recognition and response to cardiac events - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans - Participate in bedside shift rounds and effective handoff communication to optimize patient experience and safety - Utilize Meditech Expanse for accurate documentation and charting - Adhere to unit-specific policies, professional dress code, and certification requirements Desired Qualifications: - Valid RN license with experience in step-down or telemetry nursing - Certification in ASLS and BLS required; additional certifications in cardiac life support preferred - Proficiency with cardiac management techniques and use of specialty equipment such as IV pumps, Hiflo, BiPAP, and Kangaroo pumps - Ability to handle 12-hour shifts and work every other weekend as scheduled - Competent in advanced nursing procedures, including thoracentesis and CIWA assessments Additional Details: - Patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1 ensuring high quality care - Team consists of a mix of RNs, LNAs, and unit clerks supported by an experienced clinical nurse coordinator - Hospital is a Stemi-certified center, stroke center, and Level II trauma facility, reflecting high standards of care and ongoing staff recognition - Professional, collaborative work culture utilizing new technology and best practices This contract role offers the opportunity to deepen your cardiac nursing expertise in a technologically advanced, supportive setting that values quality patient outcomes.
