The Quality Manager is responsible for the Quality Management System for all phases of production, food safety, GMP practices, food quality, development of the quality and laboratory personnel within the facility.. Accountable to ensure appropriate measures are in place to ensure safe products are sold to the public. The incumbent is expected to have knowledge of laboratory GMP practices and procedures, production process and be actively engaged to identify, solve, prevent and improve problems affecting quality.Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Implement Factory Quality Management Systems including achieving FSSC2200, ISO14001 and SQF certifications.Ensure adherence to all Local, State & Federal legal and regulatory requirements related to Quality, Food Safety & EnvironmentalSupervises food safety and quality activities on shift. Regularly inspect production lines to identify and resolve any quality issues.Develop, implement, validate, verify & maintain Food Safety Fundamentals, the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan.Oversee Quality Assurance, product handling and product release and provide technical assistance to enhance product quality and food safety programs.Champion plant's Quality & Safety Risk Assessment program, including hazard identification and implementation of controls to protect the safety of our product and the environment in which we operate.Oversee development, implementation, review & maintenance of the SQF 2000 system.Ensure the department is staffed at all times with qualified members of the teamQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 3-5 year leadership role overseeing and managing quality department in the Food industryBachelors Degree from a four-year college or university in Food Science, Life Science, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering or related field or three years related experience preferred.Experience with SQF, USDA and FDA auditsAbility to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or member of business community.Functional knowledge of windows and specifically Word and Excel applications.Ability to communicate clearly and follow directionsStrong computer application skills, including the utilization of mainframe, network and PC business application softwareBasic mathematical and statistical skillsSolid problem solving and root cause analytical skillsAbility to follow written policies, programs and SOP s and communicate the content to other employees.
