We provide recognition and support of learner-centered teaching in the classroom, professional growth opportunities, and leadership development at all levels of the college. The Assistant Director of Professional Development is responsible for the overall management of the Center for Professional Development, including operations and various programs for faculty and staff within its portfolio. The Assistant Director works under the leadership of the Dean of Academic Innovations and Professional Development and with contracted staff to connect full- and part-time faculty and staff to Center programs and resources. *RESPONSIBILITIES: *This individual will serve as a productive member of the Center for Professional Development team working to meet the goals of Center and the college as a whole. 1. Work closely with Faculty Fellow and contracted staff to connect full- and part-time faculty and staff to Center programs and resources. 2. Manage programs and events: o Design, schedule, promote and evaluate workshops, events, symposia and meetings. o Maintain event records (registrations, budgets, evaluations) o Coordinate logistics with speakers o Manage volunteers o Manage collaborations with other college departments 3. Orient new employees: o Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of New Employee Orientation each semester, a collaboration with HR and college departments that includes welcoming new employees, providing resources, increasing employee engagement and creating a sense of belonging. o Organize and co-facilitate MassHire New Employee Orientation. o Organize and co-facilitate Essex County Corrections New Employee Orientation. o Conduct Mini Orientations/Meet and Greets to welcome new employees between orientations. o Connect design of New Employee Orientations to the mission and core values of college. 4. Manage leadership development initiatives: o Co-facilitate the NECC Leadership Academy. o Recruit employees to participate in external leadership programs (e.g., Leadership Development Institute (NELDI) o Encourage, connect and support colleagues in Leadership Programs o Collaborate with senior leadership to develop leadership and management training and assist in creating leadership competencies. o Encourage colleagues to focus on Leadership Capabilities. 5. Coach employees on leading with strengths: o Facilitate Strengths Workshops for departments o Provide one-on-one strengths coaching with staff and faculty o Facilitate Strengths workshops for student leaders 6. Chair the Professional Development Funding Committee: o Coordinate funding process o Communicate with applicants and committee members o Prepare documents, travel reimbursements and payment authorizations. o Monitor budget 7. Manage the operations of the Center for Professional Development o Monitor budget and payroll o Maintain the physical space of the Center, including managing the schedule, replenish office supplies and refreshments, and arrange for maintenance or repairs of technology. o Communicate in writing and verbally on behalf of the Dean o Maintain departmental website with updated information o Publish department newsletter and program information 8. Maintain collaboration with the Merrimack College Higher Education/Community Engagement Master's Degree Program o Co-create policy and procedures guidelines while identifying and orienting prospective qualified employees interested in the program. o Receive and coordinate course voucher distribution according to guidelines o Follow-up with employees for successful completion in the program o Manage list of employees interested in pursuing a Master's degree o Coordinate group visit with students 9. Represent NECC/CPD at State-wide Community College Professional Development Consortium o Plan, coordinate and lead meetings statewide to connect regarding professional development opportunities 10. Coordinate Mental Health First Aid Training for faculty, staff, students and external constituents *BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.
