Position title: Procurement ManagerDepartment:Supply ChainRevision Date:November 2021Job Summary/ Primary purpose of this position:The Procurement Manager has a key role in ensuring ongoing product supply for the company. This role is responsible for contract negotiations and purchase of ingredients, packaging materials, services and operating supplies for the company. The incumbent must be adept at pricing negotiations, vendor relationships and have a thorough understanding of contracts and terms. The incumbent must be skilled at analyzing market conditions and able to provide thoughtful analysis on market trends and make strategic decisions on primary and secondary sourcing options. The Procurement Manager has daily responsibilities to ensure that the manufacturing facility has all of the materials required to support their published plan and works to reconcile expected inventory and yields to actuals.Reports to / Supervision Received:VP Supply ChainEssential Functions:Oversees daily purchases of ingredients, packaging, operating supplies and servicesSources new ingredients and materials and manages any specification changesNegotiates pricing and contracts and manages vendor performance.Develops long range sourcing plans to ensure supply of critical ingredients and materialsProduces detailed, polished, professional communications both to vendors and internally to peersManage and maintain vendor contracts and compliance to contract termsKnowledge, Skill and Experience:Broad understanding of all purchasing functionsBroad understanding of ingredients and management of perishablesBroad understanding of manufacturing capabilities and constraints.Knowledgeable at interpreting BOM s, recipes and batching constraintsKnowledge of Navision Dynamics or other ERP/MRP packages with a high degree of comfort handling data.Advanced excel skills required; must understand formula construction, pivot tables, data types.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of senior managers and peers.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, verbal or written form.Able to deal with multiple variables and imperfect data sources.Education Required:Bachelor s Degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or other related field.Equivalent work experience accepted.Must be very skilled in Microsoft Excel or equivalent applications.Minimum Experience Required:5-10 Years in a food manufacturing, retail or foodservice company
