Join us in creating a sustainable future and becoming a protector of tomorrow!You must be legally authorized to work in the country where this job is located and not require any sponsorship assistance from Covanta.JOB SUMMARY:The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance to inspect and repair the mechanical alignment of pumps & motors, troubleshoot, replace or rebuild positive displacement or centrifugal pumps, replace conveyor bearings, replace motors, repair screws, belt, pan and shaker conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipe lines, repack and repair valves and assist in the modification of plant equipment & systems.This job offers an exciting opportunity with a very competitive Total Rewards package that includes:--- A competitive Base Salary--- Performance based Annual Incentive Plan--- Great benefits including PTO, health insurance, Retirement Savings Plan and 401K matchPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:--- Effectively complete preventive and proactive maintenance per the schedule to prevent breakdowns on equipment.--- Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages while collaborating with other departments.--- Prioritizes work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools and utility systems to minimize production downtime and completes all required paperwork and documentation in the company's computerized maintenance documentation program.--- Utilizes maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.--- Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary.--- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices.--- Ensure that equipment being repaired is tested acutely to minimize future equipment failures or downtime problems.--- Reviews maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.--- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.--- Examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed repairs.--- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.--- Examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed repairs.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:--- Ability to understand Operating and maintenance instructions, Technical procedures, read and interpret Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and other procedure manuals.--- Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.--- Basic knowledge or experience in general rigging practices, experience with basic machine and hand tools.--- Ability to perform small welding projects and knowledge in using a burning torch.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:--- High School Diploma--- Minimum of 2-4 years experienceWORK ENVIRONMENT:Duties require frequent and extended periods of outside and inside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes; continuous walking, standing, climbing and frequent periods requiring sustained uncomfortable physical positions; regular and sustained periods of strenuous physicalexertion, requiring the ability to lift, carry and position heavy objects utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques; operation of tools and equipment which cause loud noise and vibrations.Covanta is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
